balmain we have a problem

if you are like me and were planning on heading to zara for the balmain like studded strappy sandals we may have encountered a problem. rumor is that they have been removed from the shelves by legal. they are now going for about $500 on ebay. i was waiting it out to see if someone else would come up with something better but I guess it's a fine line between inspired and infringement. who knew.

looks like we are back to the drawing board with aldo smeal, unless unlike me you can DIY. they actually look good on rumi of fashiontoast so I might give them a try. are they just different enough to pass as legal? probably, that was the good thing about the zara though, they were so much closer.

so these will be my next ridiculous purchase, or it least it is looking that way, unless something even more frivolous comes along.

victoria beckham, pretty in pink

this antonio berardi dress did not catch my eye at all from the runway but victoria beckham looks brilliant in it. it compliments her skin tone and she leaves the dress to do all the talking with a nude lips and her short pixie combed back. chanel clutch circa 2007. i adore this on her. pink needs to be done carefully and this is so right. she is outside  scott's in london.

yet another uneccesary purchase

couldn't resist. got this jacket 50% off of $150 at forever 21. real leather. had the faux leather h&m for $50 but just couldn't stomach it. so since this one was only $25 more i figured i would "treat" myself. again. no offense to the h&m jacket, it was really cute but faux on your feet and faux on your back are too completely different things. plus it is still really cold here so I figure I can coast into june with this baby.

haven't posted about lauren conrad in a looong time, and honestly I can't say that I am not ready for the hills to end. lc is wearing a tank - castle starr and an elizabeth and james draped skirt (ya know mk and ahsley's line)

on the fringe

rachel bilson looks adorable in her usual carefree fashion forward way. carrying her chloe sally bag and teetering in her louboutin orlan (those were number 1 on my list until the recession hit close to home for me) she dons a little neutral fringe dress accented with tights. enjoy.

olivia palermo style

ok, so previously i posted that i would reserve judgment on olivia palermo until a few episodes of the city passed. now, we shouldn't sit in judgment of others, but all obvious poor editing to make olivia the city's heidi, i like her and more importantly i heart her look. i love that she mixes it up donning inexpensive designers with higher end stuff. zara, american apparel, steve madden and aldo. as posted moments ago, i am attempting to "adjust" to the current state of the economy so she is right up my alley. of course i still covet the clothes and lifestyles of emmanuelle alt, carine roitfeld, barbara martelo, giovanna battaglia, miroslava duma but this is achievable. plus i love her makeup, and her hair always looks fantastic. who can blame anyone for being a little mean to whitney, i mean she is basically beggingfor it with that naive deer in headlights thing. and face it, olivia's style is way better, its just a fact.

unintended consequences

so i never intended for this blog to be a budget buys type of thing. if you notice as of late, that there are more and  more posts of inexpensive items and more and more thought about how to translate runway to real life, its because I am currently unemployed. near six figures to government assistance. it isn't easy but once in a while i can treat myself to a little shopping therapy. it is not chanel or louboutin but it does get the monkey off my back.

if i stop shopping the depression wins right?

CONFESSION: i bought the forever 21 black peep toe fringe boots($34), the look alike alternative otherwise known as knockoff of the alexander wang alexis fringe boots ($595). they are not even close to leather but they look good. i'm sure my feet will pay the price.

this much anticipated line is really nice irl. i went a little nuts but everything will fit quite nicely into my current looks. i picked up both scarves the tattoo and tiger, 100% silk the portrait t-shirt dress, the pink tiger sheath, the zigzag ebony dress, etc. it is all very wearable, can be varied with belts, tights, leggings, what have you. *the models shoes are hideous.

i'll post personal style pics as soon as i wear them. i assure you it won't be long.

You won't f'in believe this! When I first heard about this collabo, I heard Egyptian inspired, saw a few sketches that were promising but I did not expect this. I kinda forgot that it was going to be unveiled during NYFW, but I saw the pics on tFS today and just WOW, you gotta admire his swagger.

I want them all and priced between $25-$50 a pair, I just might get them. They are totally Rodarte but totally in my budget, and they are tight.
