a few shots from my trip to bebe, ok I know, I was downtown anyway and I had not been for a while so I popped in. I wanted to check out their gucci iman knockoffs er um look alikes and ended up trying on a few things and taking a few pics. the distressed destroyed denim jeans were great color wise but the ripped part was too contrived in my opinion.
I tried on the studded top, they have a dress like it too, it's called the trapunto. it loosely reminded me of Givenchy s/s 2009 so i gave it a whirl. I wish I would've have saved a better pic but you get the idea. I would wear a tank under to lo-fi it a bit.

I also tried on their bleached leggings /jeans. they reminded me of the C.R.A.F.T nervous breakdown jeans.

I walked out with nothing, which is great because I saved my money.
tried to enjoy the weather yesterday although it got really cold really fast as the sun faded. i gotta tell you, i was more interested in being comfortable than anything else as I made my way downtown for my "me" day. I won't bore you with the details... it involves, wax, polish, merlot and bloody marys. enough said.

you probably thought i was a one trick pony huh? well I decided to get dressed yesterday although I had no destination in mind and basically ended up on twitter and just running a few errands and grabbing a couple of cocktails informally. so end the end this worked, just a slight step up from jeans, casual but with a slight edge.
there is a post somewhere on here from when I originally got these american apparel leggings, and even though the latex legging thing has gone crazily mainstream you still don't see them a great deal so I feel comfortable wearing them. i think as long as you aren't "showing them off" getting excessive exaggerating the look you are still fine wearing them and judging by all the fall shows leather leggings are still very much incorporated. so bottom line, i need to step up my game by fall.
this look was inspired by MK Olsen, but you probably already know that *wink*, she wore the tribute. its my favorite 'throw back' look.

i used to be a weapon of mass consumption but lately... not so much. i did have a great time yesterday though just practicing my visualization skills. it was a nice day so I went downtown and enjoyed some fresh air. we are going to have snow tonight or tomorrow so I had to jump on the opportunity. took some changing room photos at forever 21, was really going to buy these chic sweatpants but they were HUGE even the size small. i should probably mention that i am very short. anyhow thought you might get a kick out of it. they are right for someone, just not me.
you have no idea how much I want to make these work. the price was right too, under $30. the chance to lounge around in sweat pants without looking like a complete slob is so appealing. thank you alexander wang. i really am a slave to comfort on so many levels. there are other similar styles out there so the quest will continue.
so i also had the chance to pop into aldo to check out some shoes. handbags used to be my greatest vice but slowly but surely I am accumulating more and more shoes. it doesn't even matter what designer, if you make an interesting shoe, I will buy it. give me a little height with a little toe cleavage and i am in. still love my bags but they tend to be a much bigger investment. a pair of shoes gives you just enough adrenaline to make it until the next paycheck right?
homage to forever 21 i guess. i am making some changes around here, now that I have sooo much extra time on my hands. for a long time i stopped taking ootd or outfit of the day photos because I wasn't working and quite frankly did not feel much need to really get "dressed" unless I had some one off event to attend. i have decided to change that because I think it is important to maintain a certain level of decorum even if you are struggling against the "surge" of the recession. and truthfully I feel better already.
this is not my greatest however, but we are going to take baby steps. i will mix these in with celeb fashion, apparel pics, etc. but i'm also going to "put up or shut up" so to speak. i got sooo many compliments on the booties and my sally hansen jumping jade pedicure (did it myself, thank goodness i went to school to be a nail tech in the midst of getting my undergrad degree, but I digress).
went downtown yesterday to stroll michigan avenue "window shopping" only of course. I was tempted by some alexander wang like sweat pants at forever 21 but that is a story for another day, and plus I had to spend a fortune on parking which is common for downtown chicago and another thing that I miss about the whole job thing, the parking pass.

this much anticipated line is really nice irl. i went a little nuts but everything will fit quite nicely into my current looks. i picked up both scarves the tattoo and tiger, 100% silk the portrait t-shirt dress, the pink tiger sheath, the zigzag ebony dress, etc. it is all very wearable, can be varied with belts, tights, leggings, what have you. *the models shoes are hideous.
i'll post personal style pics as soon as i wear them. i assure you it won't be long.

So I spend a great deal of time getting inspiration from the blog community and then translating it to style I can wear to work and styles that easily transition to cocktails and dining out, which I do frequently in my line of work.
I've been envious of the many posts exhibiting the cuffed sleeve eighties blazers with the bandeau skirts and leggings, and oh well just about everything.
Picked up the skirt and blazer on sale at express, shoes are nine west gladiators- probably would wear louboutin or steve maddens with this but didn't realize they were at the office until I got ready to take pics. On a side note, I practically live in my office and am seriously considering putting a portable wardrobe in there, would that be over the top? I already have a shoe organizer in there..
